We went out of the Naracott Cup at South Devon last week.
Despite batting first and having the best of the light we only managed 109 and South Devon overhauled this with more than an over to spare.
Matt and Baxi were out early but again Will ‘Kombi’ Wyatt showed determination and no little skill in scoring 44 not out. Andy Bligh hit 20 including a cracking straight six into the tennis courts. Bligh was my man of the match fielding tremendously and bowling very well to boot.
We needed early wickets but South Devon’s openers scored 50 without loss. Former D&T man Mark Andrews opened for South Devon and showed he has lost none of his class despite his knees not quite being what they were. With wickets in hand South Devon were in a strong position and accelerated towards the end of the innings. D&T were not helped by Kombi’s calf injury which meant they were a man short for the last 5 overs.
We will miss Kombi and wish him a speedy recovery.
