Brockman Cup Triumph- Alex Hartridge man of the match

Our Brave lads

What a great Club  for Cup Cricket!

Our  second XI, reinforced by a 3 players from the third XI, won the Brockman tonight with another great team performance, beating Abbotskerswell in the final by 21 runs in a pulsating match with many twists and turns.

Steve Rew starred with 46 batting at number 3, James Nicholls finally came to the party with 31 with extras the only other double figures in a total of 135 for 8.  Would it be enough?  After 15 0vers we were 113 for 4 and a  total of 150+ had looked achievable.

Abbots were strongly fancied and play 3 divisions higher than our brave lads.   On top or that their seconds are unbeaten to date in A division so it was another severe test for our lads who have got stronger and stronger through the competition. (report to follow and ex-Chairman’s blog)

The only downside was that Josh Thomas injured his finger taking a marvellous catch to dismiss Abbots opener and skipper Charlie Mitchell.

Thanks to Sharon Bligh for scoring and  AJ for fathering Andy and being an all round good egg.
