Heartbreak for firsts as they lose the second Cup Final this season

After a narrow three run loss in the Naracott Final the firsts came second again in the Corinthian final, played at Ivybridge on 11th August. After a good win at Ipplepen on the previous day skipper Harold was hopeful of winning a deserved trophy but alas Seaton had other ideas. The Corinthian Cup is idiosyncratic in constituting 18 eight ball overs. Seaton scored 135 in their allotment- just less than a run a ball. They were helped by taking 18 from two separate overs. Not a huge score to overhaul and our small band of supporters were optimistic at the half way stage. Halfway through the innings we were on track but the turning point came when Raz was bowled by a full toss which clipped his bails. James Howrihane, who enjoys biffing the ball around was then disastrously run out and we were never in it after that. It was a bitterly disappointing climax for the lads.
